Episode 32: Lauren Bond

Lauren Bond is a good friend of mine, a new mom, and an English Professor teaching at the community college and university levels.  She’s married to Matt who’s also an English Professor. When they got engaged, they made a commitment to each other as well as to health and fitness.  On this episode we discuss the realities of being a teacher today, if it’s true that universities are pushing a liberal agenda, why teaching is one of the best career paths available, and what it looks like to take on fitness as a couple.

Episode 31: Lysni Lewis

Lynsi Lewis is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, an acupuncturist, an herbalist and a yoga teacher who practices out of San Diego, CA.  Growing up in small town Alabama, she assumed the only way to help heal people was through traditional medicine. When she discovered holistic and to us Westerners, alternative medicine, it was a game changer.  On this episode we talk about healthcare in America, the not discussed enough women’s reproductive health, the continuing to be discovered by scientific benefits of acupuncture PLUS how to be your fully expressed self.

Episode 30: Jade Baptiste

Jade is incredible. When she walks into a room you are instantly greeted with a huge beautiful smile and she radiates positivity.  It’s no surprise to me that her YouTube channel Jaded Journey which is both hilarious and vulnerable as she shares her life focusing on her health and fitness progress is blowing up.  She shares with her audience to keep herself accountable all while going to school and working two jobs as a nurse. On this episode she shares why this time her commitment to health and fitness is sticking, how she stays true to her commitments while both living in the fried food south and expected at Haitian family dinners, PLUS the impact her audience has had on her journey.

Episode 29: Courtney Evors

Courtney is a Senior Project Manager at adidas working in footwear, a competitive powerlifter, a nutrition holistic life coach and has launched a granola business.  She’s doing all of this as an American living in Germany just outside of Nurnberg with her boyfriend and dog. Hear how she does it all while traveling the world for work and competitions.  On this episode she shares her tips for how there are no limits to what you can do or take on and what it means to be and speak up for female athletes.

Episode 28: Victoria Varon

Victoria is what you expect when you think of “powerful lady”. She’s a mother, she’s a wife, she owns a real estate company with her husband, she’s the founding president of Elevate Leadership Community and she’s a co-founder of Transformational Tribe Experience, plus she’s the president of the Porsche Club of the San Diego Area. What?!? How does one person have this much time to be such a contribution to the world? Well, you’re going to find out on this episode. Victoria is one of the most amazing, compassionate and powerful women I’ve had the chance to interview of this podcast and that’s saying a lot considering who we have as amazing guests and our ambassadors around the world. On this episode we’ll talk about why she got involved in transformational work, why compassion and helping people find their bliss is her mission and how she found that, and also what she still works on herself. 

Episode 27 : Jenna Boutin Adamo

Jenna Boutin Adamo is a wife, mother & one of my best friends.  She’s a firecracker, she’s wicked smart, and an everyday social justice warrior.  On this episode she shares how she found career fulfillment in the last place she thought possible, why we need everyone to speak up for what you believe in, and why breast feeding is for the birds.  Also super exciting and as promised - we dive into all the different types of insurance you need and the ones you can ignore.

Episode 26 : Meredith Burkholder

Meredith is the CEO, Founder, and Director of Webfest Berlin - a short-form series festival.  On this episode she tells us how she went from Texas to starting her own business ½ way around the world in a city she didn’t speak the language or know anyone.  We talk about diversity and opportunity in the web series and podcast space, why it’s always a good idea to move abroad, and how ever expanding networks allow you to find the various keys to your dream life. 

Episode 25 : Katia Kulawick Assante

Katia is on my list of women I want to be when I grow up. She’s an author, a journalist, a wife and mum who splits her time today between Corsica, the French Alps and Paris. Today she writes for Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, and the Louis Vuitton City Guides. She started her career in 1995 at 18 as a rock journalist traveling the world over 200 days a year interviewing bands in a post-Nirvana world. She then went on to be the co-founder of Sport & Style and features director of Vogue Hommes International. Today in addition to her writing and journalism, every summer, she sails on the most beautiful classic yachts during the Corsica Classic, a vintage yacht regatta celebrating its 10th birthday in 2019, an event she co-organizes with her husband. On this episode we talk about the journey of her career, what she prioritizes in her busy life, and how she maintains the rock n’ roll approach to life no matter location, setting or age. Episode 24: Jennifer Weg

Jen Weg manages Global Creative Marketing for Film at Netflix and is the founder of Soapbox - an organization committed to empowering, protecting and promoting women in the entertainment, creative advertising, and marketing industries.  On this episode she shares her story of building a career in the entertainment world, what pushed her to create Soapbox and the impact it’s had in LA in a post-Me Too movement.

Episode 23 : Lora Bleijenberg

Lora is one of the funniest people I know and she oozes love.  Today her life is great. She owns a local gym, is a personal trainer and massage therapist, has a great marriage and is a doting dog mom. On this episode she shares how she escaped almost every statistic possible - poverty, abuse, sexual abuse, alcoholism, drug abuse and a meth addiction - and how love, humor and fitness saved her life. 

Episode 22 : Jordan Duffy

Jordan is the first female audio engineer at Earwolf/Stitcher a podcasting company where she works on podcasts such as Hollywood Handbook, Best Friends, Bitch Sesh, Spanish Aqui Present, Yo Is This Racist?, Queery, and Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend plus many more. She’s also a singer / songwriter, the engineer here on the Powerful Ladies Podcast and my sister.  On this episode she shares how to chase your dream and say yes to opportunities when you’re broke, what it’s really like to chase a career as a musician, her personal experiences with sexual assault, and breaking news on when her new album is coming out.

Episode 21 : Julie Podolec

Julie is the bubbly, energetic co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of The Modern Pop, a Laguna Beach based frozen fruit bar company.  A New York transplant, she started the company with her husband after making healthy frozen treat options in her kitchen for her son. On this episode she shares what she loves about the business she founded, what it looks like to be fearless in making new connections and life an entrepreneur mom.

Episode 20 : The WKNDRs

Rachel and Claire are artists, designers and entrepreneurs based in Vancouver, Canada. They’ve been friends since college and their first business together was a vintage clothing shop.  Today they are equal artists and entrepreneurs behind the WKNDRS an Art & design lifestyle brand - which is super lighthearted & where they express their fun side and get to collaborate with their favorite artists and brands. On this episode we discuss the value of having a creative partner, what it means to build a creative community around you, and why having fun should always be a priority.

Episode 19 : Andrea Spinelli

Andrea Spinelli is a storyteller who has used her gift of writing, producing, researching, being curious and making people feel comfortable to create commercials, documentaries, films and events.  She’s been an entrepreneur since 1973 when she founded Studio 27. Since then she’s learned how to survive loss, the pressures of taking care of a family, and overcome decades of sexism in the corporate world. She’s also my great aunt and one of the first Powerful Ladies I ever got to meet. On this episode she shares when she first started to campaign against injustice, the women’s movement through the decades of her life, and where she’s found her strength to keep going.

Episode 18 : Morena Duwe

Morena Duwe is a writer and journalist. She’s written for publications such as LA Weekly, SF Weekly, OC Weekly, Mix Mag, DJ Mag, Huffington Post, and UpRoxx. Her partner, Miles, is a photographer and for the past couple of years, they’ve had the privilege to travel the world covering music festivals as a team.  On this episode we talk about how journalism is changing, how to find your voice, and what it looks like to make the hard choices and follow your own unique path.

Episode 17: Rachael Lee Sortor

Rachael Lee Sortor is a neonatal ICU flight nurse and has been a competitive rock climber since she was a teenager.  She is focused, intentional, and committed to her family living their best lives. She’s also a mom & wife. At 8 months old, before she could walk, her daughter Ellie started to rock climb. One day Rachael posted a video to Facebook of Ellie climbing at the local rock gym to share with her family.  Within 48 hours the video was internationally viral. Soon calls started coming in from the Conan O'Brian Show, for a world tour, and the Ellen Show.  One post and their lives were changed forever.

Episode 15: Lacey Haegen of Beaute Nouveau

Lacey Haegen is a makeup artist and the owner of Beaute Nouveau - a handmade skincare collection.  Her whole life she was taught and encouraged to be learning, questioning, creative, and resourceful.  When she began to investigate what was in all the products we put on our skin, she was horrified and knew there had to be a better way, so she made it herself. This episode is one of my favorite’s so far as we deep dive into the realities of entrepreneurship and the truths behind our skincare and makeup products.

Episode 14: Kendra Eaton

Kendra Eaton is unstoppable. She’s is her twenties, has a high powered full time job, is a homeowner, she's her HOA president, and is an entrepreneur with two businesses. And we’re not talking about hobby businesses. These are two companies with a staff and an office and generating serious income.  Total boss lady. As a kid she was diagnosed with ADD and today is using that gift to her advantage. On this episode we talk about how she does it all, what it’s like to be so young and so hungry, real life when your partner is also an entrepreneur and how she remembers to take time to be a fun & regular 20-something.
